Online Tool 5: Prezi

What is Prezi?

Prezi is a free online presentation tool that puts everything traditionally found in a multi-slide presentation onto a large single page that can be navigated. Unlike other programs, Prezi largely is meant to focus on images, media, and the connections between different topics and ideas.

Advantages

  • Prezi’s can zoom in and out, making it easy to emphasize key points. This can also be a disadvantage, though.
  • Unlike a PowerPoint, you can jump between numerous points and back with ease.
  • The interface is a large canvas, making it easier to explore connections between different concepts.
  • Imagery is easy to use in conjunction with text.
  • Transition effects are built in with minimal distraction.
  • Like with PowerPoints, videos, PDFs and URLs can be embedded.
