Idea 9: Engaging Students with Online Content Curation Tools (Pinterest)

What are Curation Tools?

Curation Tools are a way to take content from the internet and aggregate them in a central place, typically with additional information. The most popular one currently is Pinterest.

Instructions

  • Create a Pinterest account for the course.
  • Create a board related to the course content.
    • For unrelated topics, consider creating separate boards.
  • Instruct students to post relevant materials they find to the board.
    • Students can also be required to add a short description or analysis of the source, which will be visible for everyone to see.

Advantages

  • Resources are complied in one place, making it easy for students to refer back to them for research.
  • Boards can be created for a variety of subjects, making them easy to search for and organize even after the class ends.
  • Students can communicate through the program, making collaboration easy.
