Idea 5: Using Google Drawings for Group Meetings

What are Google Drawings?

Google Drawings is a part of the Google Docs Suite. It allows groups of people to edit a blank page with text, images, and sketches.

Why use Google Drawings for Group Meetings?

Google Drawings allows for a professor to constantly check-in with group progress. A professor can help ensure that all students are equally participating while not actively participating in a group project. After creating a Google Drawing for each group and adding members, the groups will be able to work on their projects both synchronously and asynchronously without direct supervision.

Why use Google Drawings for Group Meetings?

  • Rather than being part of discussions, you can lurk in all projects.
    • Students will never know when you’ll be actively watching, and have to be on their best behavior always.
  • All students are afforded the chance to get their voice heard.
  • If a group gets off-task, you can easily catch it in real-time.
  • The running chat is easy to check if arguments or issues arise, unlike with traditional conversations.
