Idea 15: Using Doceri for iPad and Lectures

What is Doceri?

Doceri is an iPad app that can turn a computer/projector into a makeshift Smartboard.  By connecting the computer through the Wi-Fi, Doceri can remotely control the PC, add annotations to presentations/websites/videos, and project whatever is on the screen through Doceri.

Advantages

  • Any computer/projector can be turned into a functional interactive whiteboard.
  • Doceri can record as you lecture, making it easy to create screencasts.
    • Recordings can be saved to the iPad’s camera reel, or uploaded to the web.
  • Doceri can be used in conjunction with PowerPoints, websites, or hand-drawn images.
  • The small size of the iPad allows a professor to move around while lecturing, or pass the device to a student to work out a problem.
    • Unlike going up to a whiteboard in a large class, using the iPad is less intimidating.
