Faculty GUR Group: Who wants to be a millionaire? (PART 2)

Time: 3/12/2014 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Location: Miller 114

Megan Deeney, (Mathematics) will present “Who wants to be a millionaire? Planning your financial future with MATH 107” offered by the Faculty GUR Group. Please join your colleagues from across campus to explore excerpts of her course and reflect with participants on the instructional methods she employs.

Want to have a million dollars (or more) when you retire, or do you want to save for something in the shorter term? We will discuss a few simple formulas to plan your savings strategy to achieve your goals. We can also talk about mortgage decisions, such as whether to buy discount points or whether it makes sense to refinance. These are some of the topics covered in the GUR MATH 107. Megan Deeney will give an overview of the rest of the course as well, which looks at basic probability and statistics and how to evaluate statistical studies in the media.

All faculty and staff are invited to attend this two-part “mini course” offered on two dates, each covering different material. Attend both or either:

** PART 1: Wed., March 5, 4-5 PM, Miller Hall 114
** PART 2: Wed., March 12, 4-5 PM, Miller Hall 114
