Time: 1/26/2012 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM

How does one make sense of gender in a rapidly changing world when yesterday’s norm, today’s convention and tomorrow’s possibilities have little in common? How does one study and teach gender issues in such a volatile and evolving environment?

Lena Ericksen examines the changing nature of gender through history and the effect socioeconomic conditions have had on the rise of gender consciousness, the successive waves and versions of feminism, and the subcultures based upon gender orientation that have emerged.
