Using Data to Understand Western's Students

Time: 4/24/2008 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Location: Miller Hall 158

The first year of college is often the most difficult. The Western Educa-tional Longitudinal Study (WELS) investigates the precursors to college experience (expectations, family background, high school experience), and their relationships to outcomes in the first year. This data reveals the process of personal development in academic and social settings, patterns of struggle and success, and the voices of students who tell their stories. In this workshop Dr. Richard Bulcroft, Director of Survey Research, and Linda Clark, Survey Research Planning Analyst will discuss new information obtained from the WELS.

This workshop is part of the Spring Series on Assessment for Learning, and is sponsored by the Center for Instructional Innovation, the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education, and the Office of Institutional Assessment, Research, and Testing.
