Using Humor and Play for Learning

Time: 4/6/2006 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Location: Miller Hall 160

As T.S. Eliot said, "Humor is also a way of saying something serious." Taking advantage of a humorous situation --and having fun-- in the classroom can be a great way to create "teachable moments." Appropriate and intentional use of humor in the classroom can also create a learning environment that boosts cognition, eases student anxiety, facilitates group cohesion, and enhances instructor appeal. At this interactive workshop, you will hear how humor heightens "funderstanding." And we'll play with toys. Come laugh and learn with us!

This workshop is part of this year's First Thursdays Faculty Development Workshop Series co-sponsored by the CII and TLA.
