Assessing Student Writing

Location: Wilson Library 461

Participants will do a "Deep Reading" exercise before reading and assessing senior-level student papers in discipline-based scoring teams. While readers will share a cross-disciplinary scoring rubric developed in the statewide Senior Writing Study, each team will score their papers according to the conventions of their disciplinary domains. The workshop will provide opportunities to discuss the scoring results, including implications for pedagogy, both within disciplinary teams and across the whole group.

With support from the Office of Institutional Assessment and Testing, Western’s Writing Assessment Group and the Teaching-Learning Academy are co-sponsoring this workshop.
